bradley hodgson
From Cramlington Learning Village, Northumberland, Bradley received the James Hughes-Hallet Bursary for teachers in the north of England.
James Hughes Hallet (1949-2019) was a founding supporter of Art History in Schools and a great trustee. He dedicated the last years of his life to enabling the wider uptake of Art History across the country.
Bradley teaches art and photography and is part of the steering group for North East Art Teacher Network. He writes “It is a great privilege to be awarded the James Hughes-Hallet Bursary to study the NEC online History of Art A-level. I look forward to expanding my current knowledge and embedding this into my own classroom practice for the benefit of my students.”
Aasha john
A Head of Art, Aasha received The Ann Steiglitz Bursary for a state sector BAME teacher.
Aasha’s department has an art curriculum which creates a balance between art practice and theory. With this bursary she hopes to deepen her students understanding and use of art as a tool for empowering voices and instilling the importance of social/cultural responsibility.
Aasha says “Thank you to AHiS for providing me with the opportunity to broaden my own practice, and allow me to develop the skills necessary to equip my students with a voice, understanding and vocabulary to reflect on their experiences and cultural identity.”

Catherine teaches A-level Art and Photography at Waldegrave School, Twickenham.
She is looking forward to helping school students to appreciate their own backgrounds and establish connections with other cultures as a result of the skills and knowledge gained through Art History.
Catherine explains “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to study Art History as it will enhance my ability to develop a more critical approach to my teaching.”
