2020: New A Level Art History Training Day for Pre-U Teachers

The day will include an overview of the global syllabus as well as teachers actively working on six case studies, three European and three non-European over the three themes. There will be ‘hands-on’ opportunities for marking experience, and for classroom activities including the use of critical texts.

£100 including materials, CPD certificate, and all refreshments

10.00 Registration and coffee

10.30 Welcome by Caroline Osborne , Head of Art History at Godolphin and Latymer School

10.40 Introduction to the Pearson Art History A-level Syllabus by Caroline Osborne

11.00 Three Themes: Art & Nature, Art & War, and Art & Identities – range of suggested sample schemes of work re-using European and non-European tradition set works from Pre-U syllabus 

11.30 Themes: Sample case studies, resources, lesson plans and activities in three groups with Gabriel Williams (Godolphin and Latymer School), Clare Macdonnell (Francis Holland School) and Caroline Osborne (Godolphin and Latymer School) 

12.45 Lunch

13.30 Use of Critical Texts for Themes and Period papers – introduction and workshop 

14.30 Assessment and Marking Criteria. Samples of short questions and full essays for hands-on marking

15.45 Tea and plenary discussion
